What is the holiday and/or on-call schedule look like for technologists?

On the MUSCP side, we have three locations that do not require holiday or on call coverage. We are primarily Monday -Friday.

We do however offer some Saturday services at our East and West campuses on a modified schedule.

In Adult Diagnostics we rotate holidays each year, if you work New year's, Memorial Day, and Christmas one year the next year you work July 4th, Labor Day and Thanksgiving. Our on-call is 3 days a week every 12 weeks.

For Mammography, there is no call. We rotate holidays each year.

In Interventional Radiology, depending on staffing our team members cover 1 night of week call 7p-7a about once every 2 weeks. Weekend call coverage, Friday at 7p to Monday at 7a, also depends on staffing but we are roughly about 1 weekend every 8-12 weeks. We celebrate all MUSC holidays and have a call team in place for emergencies. The requirement is 1 holiday per calendar year. We do our best alternate between a major and minor.

MRI technologists at the hospital are on call approximately every 12 weeks. They work three holidays annually, with holidays rotating each year. You won’t work the same holiday for four years unless you swap with another technologist.

In the Nuclear Medicine department, call rotates week to week. Currently techs are on call every 7th week. Techs rotate holidays averaging one holiday a year.

CT technologists are scheduled 3 holidays a year rotating every 3 years. Call is one week, including the weekend, every 12 weeks.

For Pediatric Diagnostics, we rotate on-call shifts each month to cover the Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital. On-call Monday-Friday is from 11p-7a. On-call Saturday & Sunday is from 7a-7p and 7p-7a. Our Afterhours and OP Imaging locations do not have on-call rotations.

Ultrasound only takes call on weekends and holidays are on a rotation each year based on what the staff worked the previous year, 2 major and 1 minor.
