There is always both a learning curve and adjustment to what initial expectations are when first starting at a new place of work. For me with MUSC I did not realize how large it was until after I started. The main thing to remember no matter where you work is having realistic expectations. I love the analogy of "the larger the ship, the longer it takes to change direction", and that is true of MUSC. If you are not aware of the reality of this, it can be frustrating to someone expecting change to happen at the drop of a hat. Fortunately, I have been blessed with some amazing mentors at pretty awesome institutions so my expectations of MUSC were met pretty well :)

Great question! Like mentioned above, when joining a new company you have to remember that there are going to be leaning curves at first. When I joined MUSC Health I knew that I wanted to join a team that provided a good work environment where I could contribute, continue learning, and grow within the company. The key to making all of these happen, is to put forth hard work within your team and find people who will take you under their wing to mentor you. My honest expectation when starting in my current role was that I was going to get stagnant in the position, this has proven to NOT be true! MUSC and MUSC Health are ever evolving and so are the job roles within!
